Effective Web Design
There are many components that work together to create an effective, successful, and functional online enterprise.
These components include all the elements that make up the part of a website that a visitor will see and interact with, right through to the back-end functions that make a website work. These things include database integration, the various languages, codes, and scripts that make the web-page render and operate, autoresponder scripts, image and video integration, social media integration and so on.
All of these back-end operations and integrations combine to give us the “front-end” of the website. This is the visual aspect of the website. The area where a visitor can look at, browse, navigate, get information, view images and video, fill out forms, and generally where they interact with your site.
How effectively they interact with your site (or want to interact) has a lot to do with website design.
Effective web design needs to gain the attention of the visitor, convey relevant and appropriate information, make navigation easy, keep the visitor on the site for as long as possible, guide the visitor in taking certain actions, and generally offer a usefulness to the visitor.
To give the visitor a good and productive interaction with your site, website design can make use of colour, typography, element positioning, effective use of images and video, good content, and a strategic combining of these things to guide or “funnel” a visitor in taking a certain action or series of actions.
It also needs to be responsive (viewed easily across all browsers and devices), load quickly, and render in a way that the designer had intended.
The success of a website, in terms of giving a website visitor a useful and productive interaction with your site, starts with good website design. Web design really can make or break an online enterprise.
